Management team health check

Is your management team losing its cutting edge? Do you suspect that there are issues that are hindering them from delivering as effectively as they could be?

This Management Team Health Check is a frank assessment to the CEO about how the management team is performing, how
it is perceived within the organisation, and how to improve the situation and, ultimately, the bottom line. It is all about tuning
the engine that drives the business, before it needs to be taken
off the road for a full overhaul.

Research shows that when teams are first formed, they invest the time to build and maintain effective team behaviour, including the ability to take good decisions for the organisation. However, this performance tends to tail off over time as individuals' 'day jobs', personal tensions or organisational change exert an ever greater influence and decrease the team's effectiveness.

Benefits

We work with you to:

  • Remove sources of tension and friction within the organisation
  • Focus your team(s) on the critical issues
  • Speed up your response times to changing conditions
  • Shake up your pre-conceptions about how to run the business
  • Ensure that senior teams are making commercially effective decisions
  • Present a united front and maintain the confidence of your key internal audiences

How does it work?

  • We interview relevant team members to understand their perception of the issues
  • We cross reference these interviews with input from the next tier
    of management
  • We recommend how to improve the performance of key teams
  • We embed the recommendations with the teams
  • We suggest how to keep the team performance effective in
    the future

Time and Resource Commitment

The Management Team Health Check takes around seven to ten working days of our time depending on the complexity of the organisation. There are four distinct stages:

Phase 1:

Interviews with all team members and some of their direct reports, after which we reflect on what we have heard and allow the impact of the interviews to settle within the company.

Phase 2:

We return with a report on the critical issues which we have identified together with recommendations for change.

Phase 3:

We agree the way forward with you and work to implement the agreed solutions.

Phase 4:

Around eight weeks after the original work, we will follow up
with a focused health-check to assess progress and to make any necessary corrections to the team activity.
